About Us

Rooted in national values and aligned with the
United States Forest Service’s reforestation

Who We are

American Forest Standard is the national certification initiative uniting the U.S. construction and trade industries under a common goal:
to restore America’s forests and protect our environmental future one project at a time.

Aligning With Federal Reforestation Benchmarks

As the U.S. government accelerates timber production and wildfire recovery efforts through the 2025 Executive Order on the Expansion of American Timber Production Immediate Expansion of (place us gov link to mandate), American Forest Standard enables the building industry to align its operations with federal reforestation benchmarks and ecological resilience strategies.

Every certified project through the American Forest Standard results in the planting of trees offsetting material use, sequestering carbon, and contributing to long-term ecosystem health.

Why It Matters

America has lost over 200 million acres of forest since the 1600s. As timber production ramps up to secure economic stability and housing supply, it’s vital that we also restore what’s been lost. With American Forest Standard, builders and contractors across the country can be part of the solution, not just in word, but in measurable action.

Join the Standard. Lead the Change.

Be certified. Be recognized. Be part of America’s reforestation movement.

2025 White House
Executive Order

The White House ordered a big push to cut more American timber (wood) from U.S. lands to boost jobs, lower housing and energy costs, reduce wildfires, and stop relying on foreign wood. It speeds up permitting, cuts red tape, and updates environmental rules to make timber harvesting faster and easier

What is happening?

The Presidential Action is focused almost entirely on:

Cutting More Timber

Reducing Wildfire Risks

Lowering Costs

Speeding Up Permits

What does this mean?

This executive order does not include any commitments or requirements for:

Replanting or Reforestation After Logging

Offsetting Carbon Impacts

Making Timber Harvesting Sustainable Long-Term

Negative Impacts

Will harm wildlife and ecosystems if not carefully managed

May increase deforestation concerns

Faces potential legal challenges over endangered species protections

Could spark opposition from environmental and Indigenous groups

The government order emphasizes tree removal, but doesn’t prioritize replanting. That’s where we step up to make a difference.
